An unexpected (and emotional) ending to van life in Moab, Utah

For the past week, I've been based around Mount Rainier in Washington State. If you've ever wondered what a very normal day looks like in my life as a van-dwelling outdoor adventure photographer, here ya go. Early morning drives into the mountains, sunrise photography shoots, coffee and editing breaks, sunset hikes, and all the other stuff in between.

Does it ever get lonely living on the road? Yeah. In this video I talk about the loneliness and solitude that can exist in van life. Also, relationships - and a life update that swings from forests to the sea on the Olympic Peninsula, and into the Cascade Mountains of Washington State. Some rough patches, but also some really beautiful moments and views along the way.

Woah, has it really been a month already?? I've been out hiking, camping and living the van life...and doing my best to escape wildfire smoke and heat waves. Here’s what summer in Montana has been like, grizzly bears included. Spoiler alert - Montana is ridiculously beautiful.

After two months in a house, I’m back out on the road…which means re-learning how to live full-time in a vehicle. Finding places to park, showers, bathrooms and all the other stuff in between. Thanks for being here :)

Ah, summers in Washington. I’ve mostly been in the mountains, doing what I love to do most. Hike, camp and take photos. So, I figured I’d share what I’ve been up to and some BTS of recent landscape / travel photography trips in the Washington backcountry. In this episode, I’ll show you what I pack for these overnights and what camera gear I take into the mountains as an adventure photographer.

Making a decision and making it a reality. Two very different things.

After deciding to live on the road and let my apartment lease expire, I offered myself a giant pat on the back and promptly forgot about it. For a day. A week. And then a month. Six weeks passed before I finally faced the reality of my current situation. I was in Utah, hanging out with some of my favorite people in the world. Taking photos, having fun. Making absolutely zero progress toward my goal of living on the road.
